The Bicycle Partnership Program has partnerships with cities and civil society organisations in Brasil (Resende, Rio de Janeiro, Florianopolis), Chile (Santiago de Chile), Colombia (Bogota), Ecuador (Quito) and Peru (Lima). Furthermore, the BPP supports:


Latin America has a cycling tradition, but this has always been much more attached to recreation and sports rather than to transport. Cycling facilities, if any, are often to be found in recreational areas such as parks. The challenge here is very much to promote cycling as an ordinary utilitarian mode of transport. This would make people less dependent on public transport use of private cars and walking. The implication is that, apart from a proper marketing of cycling as a mode of transport, the urban road networks have to be adapted to provide a safe and comfortable road environment for cycling.
