The objective and envisioned effect of the Bicycle Partnership Program are to increase cycling mobility to contribute to improved air quality (millennium development goal 7), reduced poverty (millennium development goal 1, 2, 3, 4) and sustainable and liveable cities. The envisioned outcome within the span of influence of the BPP is defined as: pro-poor cycling policies are implemented.
The activities within the BPP are geared towards capacity building on 3 actors: - CSOs are capable to promote pro-poor cycling policies and approaches. The BPP supports CSOs via “learning by doing”, “learning by training” and “learning by exchange”.
- Bicycle suppliers have capacities for affordable bicycle provision. The BPP carries out 2 or 3 pilot projects with bicycle suppliers in Africa.
- Municipalities have capacities for cycling-inclusive planning. The BPP supports cities with training workshops and distant coaching.
